10th-Dec-2010 02:54 am - Goal achieved! Graduation Time!!!
fedal; madrid
On the 29th of Nov was our Judgment Day as we like to call it...it was the day our results get released and everyone was holding their breathes waiting to see if we passed and will be graduating...and I am VERY HAPPY to say that I WILL BE GRADUATING!!! :DDD
I was so relieved and sooo happy that I managed to pass the 2 subjects that i initially failed but had the chance to re-submit!!!
Anyways I haven't had the chance to post in a couple of days but i thought i could share the good news with you guys :)) On Wednesday I picked up the Tickets and the robes and sash and got the Pictures out of the way, I was sooo excited to pick it up :D...the ceremony will be on Wednesday 15th of Dec and my mother and I can be a bit superstitious, so we decided that I will not be going out next week.
Gahh, I'm sooo happy that all the hardwork paid off in the end, I guess now I can say that all the emotional ups and downs are worth it. And I really believe that I'm going to say this but I think I will miss going to Uni. Maybe I'll take a year off to find a job and apply for another course after that. Good idea? yay or nay?
This is what the Diploma Grad students will be wearing :))

my friend who studied photography was nice enough to agree to be my photog, free of charge, and i managed to convince my cousin to pose for my friend...these are the garments I did this year...
and just a small note the final garment is a bit different to the sketches, as we tend to change some details as we go...

I just did the best and most fun work experience! We get an e-mail from our co-coordinator for work experience opportunities and I volunteered to do dressing.
If anyone isn't sure what dressing is, its helping the models change in to their next outfit. It was a really good experience :D

The show was at Moonee Valley Racecourse, the fashion show was for David Jones Ladies Fashion Luncheon...its basically showcasing what's hot for the Spring Race Carnival.

Anyways I had to get up at 4:30 in the morning, because I take forever to get ready as well as I still need to find clothes to wear; we have to wear all black. The train I was gunna catch was at 5:49, very early just in case I get lost...I was the first one there, I arrived at 7:30, but that was good though, I get to start early too, I was assigned to steam the men's  clothes, which kinda easy because I only had to steam the front and the sleeves because they will be wearing blazer over it. Then we had to make sure that all clothes were in order of when they wear it. that took about an hour and a half, so we had a lot of free time, since the show doesn't start until 12:50. So we just walked around the racecourse.

The models were all soo pretty and tall, as expected...there were 10 female models and 2 male models (which we were kinda disappointed about) and they were in their late 20's but still they were attractive...Even before the show started I already got an eyeful, I know I should have expected it but it caught me by surprise, one of the male models, Mark, needed the pants he was gunna to alter the hem, and sooo he just stripped down to his boxers right next to me while i'm steaming their clothes...he is soo cute, nice back view ;)

While we were on our break we just watched Brian McFadden rehearse, apparently he will be the entertainment. And we should have brought our own food, not that I'm not grateful, we get to eat the same food as the models which were fruits and tiny sandwiches, we were still hungry :/

Anyway on to the show, we get assigned to a model, soo lucky I got a really nice model, she even gave me a pep talk, helped me calm down by rubbing my arms because she said I looked so nervous, of course I would be nervous, I didn't want to make a mistake, even the male models were amused but they were nice enough to also assure me that I will be fine and I'll have fun :D , my model thanked me every change, one of the girls I met, her model just walks away from her when she's dressed, felt bad for her. The backroom was soooo small, it gets chaotic after their first walk and getting changed into the next outfit, everyone was rushing, and throwing their clothes on the floor. The girl's outfits are not too complicated but the guy's had to change everything, their shoes, shirt, pants and ties...not to be aperve but its not like I can help it, after I dress my model, I had to look around and observe and there were a lot of skin, some were topless because you can't wear a bra with some of the dresses, the guy's are right in front of me, I can't help but look :/ After the show we had to put the clothes in a garment bag and pack up all the shoes, it was the easiest and most fun work experience, I would gladly do it again , I might apply for next year's Loreal Fashion Festival :D Even the supervisors were nice and they gave us some advice about the jobs and told us about the industry, It was a really great experience :D

This is another reason I love what I'm doing, they gave us opportunities to see what happens backstage in a fashion show and we get to go to exclusive fashion shows and meet and see people in the industry.
And also fashion week is like a holiday for us, our lecturer's cancels our class so we can go to some of the shows =P

Haven't posted in a while...my course is keeping me really busy, I never get a chance to check for updates daily, just once a weekend or so...while taking a break from my school work, i decided to play around with photoshop again, making some icons of my favourite fandoms as well as new found favourites...I've seen Queer as Folk just once but my brother lent me his dvd's and I got into it again, I really miss this show...I was only 15 yrs old when I first saw, it, even though then it was the last season I actually watched on tv - I really loved it (I watched the prev seasons on the internet...and because it's September, the finals season for AFL, I also decided to include Rooey and Kosi from my favourite team St. Kilda...my star trek pairing is the odd one out in here because most of the fandoms i decided to post are slash pairings...one random thing i noticed, most of my slash pairings are blond and brunette...

28th-Jun-2010 06:33 pm - Semester 1 Project
fedal; madrid
Our major assignment for Design Studio  this semester is  was to create an ensemble of semi tailored jacket and skirt, using a wool fabric. The three choices of themes are Australiana/Indigenous and the 60's, Tibet and the 70's and Medieval and the 80's. And well, surprise surprise, I chose Medieval and the 80's (most of the class did anyways because we are more familiar with it). First step was to draw some sketches to show the teachers, and then patternmaking - most of us got in trouble here, time wise, we spent way too much time on it than necessary. And so the last step was to actually sew it, we were given 5 weeks to finish it...in the coming days our class was so hectic, everyone was in a panic to finish it. We did manage it but we thought we could have done better. I'm so glad that was over, huge sigh of relief when the last button was sewn...and now i'm getting ready for nest semester, with a label collaboration - redesigning beach pants for Stussy and redesigning a Cocktail dress from secondhand fabrics and materials. Anyways here's what I came up with, i thought it looked alright...hopefully next time i can improve it more...

fedal; madrid
On our last Sustainability class we redesigned the 3 pairs of jeans we collected on our excursion...everyone's pieces looked sooo good. Even though we only had 2 hours to do it, i thought we did good...i thought mine was the weakest, but it got picked as a runner up, the teachers liked the back view but the front view wasn't so good, i agree, i ran out of time to do more, i'm happy that mine got picked but i honestly thought the others are better than mine...but the 4 winners looked really good!

24th-Jun-2010 06:58 pm - Record Breaking
fedal; madrid
Nicolas Mahut VS John Isner's match is just epic...i have been following this match since day 1, and I cannot believe that it isn't over yet.
I didn't even plan on watching this match but i got nothing to do that night, so what the hell, might as well follow it all the way and glad i did, because this is getting very exciting.
yesterday though got a bit too much for me at about 4:00 am they were at 48 all, i think, and i just crashed, i fell asleep, when i woke up I thought surely someone has won the match, but when i checked i saw that it was suspended because of bad light, I just flabbergasted, that is just unbelievable, a FIRST round match taking this long...i wonder how much longer this match will be...i'm not really going for anyone but I will feel really bad to whoever will lose.

So usually i look at Yahoo sports and they had an article on the match and the stats and trivias are just amazing...

Isner and Mahut deadlocked at 59-59 in historic Wimbledon tilt

By Chris Chase

Epic doesn't even begin to cover it.

After ten hours, 153 games and almost 1,000 points, American John Isner and Frenchman Nicolas Mahut were locked at 59-59 in the fifth-set of their historic first-round match at Wimbledon when play was suspended for the second straight day due to darkness.

You read the score correctly: 59-59. When the Wimbledon final had a 16-14 final set last year, that seemed like a marathon. In comparison, this match was like running to the moon.

[PHOTOS: Isner and Mahut's exhausting battle]

The pair started play on Tuesday, splitting four sets before play was halted due to a lack of light. They resumed Wednesday afternoon and figured to be on the court for around an hour to finish their fifth set. Improbably and amazingly, the men were still on Court 18 as the sun set at the All England Club seven hours later. Isner could barely move. Mahut looked punch-drunk. Yet they soldiered on, playing in front of a stunned crowd and a worldwide audience which grew by the minute, as word of the match spread through the sports world. On a day where the World Cup figured to be the top story in sports, two unheralded players on a distant court at Wimbleon stole the show.

The tennis itself wasn't especially riveting for most of the play on Wednesday as big serves, the speedy grass court and fatigue made for quick rallies and short service games. There were very few break chances — Mahut only had one break point prior to the 147th game and Isner just had four break points of his own — but the drama and mind-boggling length of the set more than made up for it.

Consider: The longest previous set at Wimbledon lasted 46 games. Isner-Mahut didn't just shatter the record, they obliterated it.

Among the other remarkable statistics from the match:

— It's the longest match in tennis history: 9 hours, 58 minutes. The previous record was 6 hours, 33 minutes.

— Longest set in tennis history: 118 games.

— Most games in Wimbledon history: 153 (previous record was 112).

— Both players broke the ATP record for most aces in a match. Isner had 98, Mahut hit 94. The previous record was 78. Combined, the two had 192 aces, more than double the old record of 84.

— Mahut had just three break points during the entire match.

— The first four sets took 2 hours, 54 minutes. The fifth set is at 7 hours, 4 minutes and counting.

— Mahut won 448 points to Isner's 428. Isner had more winners: 333 to 318.

— The final set is longer than the previous longest match in tennis history. That was 6 hours, 33 minutes.

— Isner had four match points, one at 11-10, two others at 33-32 and another at 59-58. The first and last match points came nearly six hours apart.

— At 50-50, Mahut had two break points and Isner promptly served a 134 mph ace.

— With Mahut serving at 52-53, the pair exchanged a 16-shot rally which ended with a Mahut forehand winner. It was the longest rally of the match. On the next point, Mahut dove for a backhand at the baseline following another long rally.

— The players took their first bathroom break at 58-58. While walking in the tunnel, they exchanged pleasantries, the first time they had spoken all evening.

— Mahut only qualified for Wimbledon after winning a qualifier match in a 24-22 final set.

— The match is almost two hours longer than the longest Major League Baseball game in history (an 8:06 game between the White Sox and Brewers in 1984).

— The scoreboard stopped working at 47-47.

We'll never see the likes of this again.
